The new St. Lucie County ordinance (passed 6-15-2010) requiring any mortgage holder on any foreclosed property in St. Lucie County, including the City of Port St. Lucie, to register with the county and have a local property manager on call, should help with break-ins, code violations, and record keeping. Having been in business in Port St. Lucie for the last 38 years, CENTURY 21 Colean Realty, Inc. stands ready to help banks, investors, and REITS meet the new county ordinance. The new ordinance requires any mortgage holder on any St. Lucie County property to pay $100 ($150 for commercial) to register the property with the county and hire a local manager to oversee the property.

The new ordinance should help with overgrown grass, wide open homes, and dilapidated structures in St. Lucie County. The ordinance requires any mortgage holder on any foreclosed property, including commercial, to hire a local manger who will check on the property a minimum of once per month. The local manager will need to correct code violations that exist and keep any new ones from cropping up. A once monthly check should also make sure that no one is inhabiting the home, or has broken into the property.

This new ordinance was passed today (6-15-2010), so more details will be forthcoming. We will update this site as more information becomes available.
